Hitting Pakistan
Pakistan’s status as
a safe haven for Taliban fighters has finally come to an end.
According to the Los Angeles Times, US forces in Afghanistan are
now putting ordnance on top of Taliban forces going to or coming
from, Pakistan. The only question now, is, why has it taken so
long for US to exercise its inherent right to self- defense?
President Musharraf’s government will no doubt spout a lot of
nonsense about invasions of Pakistan’s ‘sovereignty’ and protest
to the US. But the fact is, Taliban forces now attacking US
troops in Afghanistan are concentrated in the North Waziristan,
a sanctuary, which is, for all intents and purposes an ungoverned
area. The only law there, is the law of the local tribal leaders
and the Taliban fighters.
In any event, from now on, there’ll be no sanctuary in Pakistan and if Musharraf doesn’t like it; that’s too damn bad.
